In a world of social media that can be fully automated or where you can easily hire someone to take it over for you we’re encouraged to market, market, market! Get your name out there! Right? Of course, that is absolutely important, but in all this marketing are you stopping to listen?
Here is the problem – getting your name out there isn’t enough. It’s important yes, but it isn’t what is going to sell your products and services – YOU are. If you are only “talking,” but not taking the time to acknowledge the feedback your getting and interacting with leads, you’re truly missing out! Essentially, you’re marketing for nothing!
By now you probably know marketing isn’t cheap – or easy. It takes time, work, and money. If you’re neglecting the follow through, it’s all going to waste. Marketing is what brings in leads, but you need to interact with them to find out what they want. Not only does this make the experience more personal for them (which encourages them to trust you more as they build a relationship with you), but you can also get feedback on what is working and what isn’t working, which will make your future marketing campaigns more successful – it’s a win-win!
Are you unsure if you’re offering a good balance between marketing and truly listening? Look at what you’re offering and reverse the situation. Look at it from a customer/client perspective. Would you still be interested in your business, products, and services or is all the information overwhelming? Do you feel like you could ask a question or voice a concern and get a genuine response?
Better yet – ask your customers and clients! Ask them questions. What do they like about what you offer? What do they think you could improve? Be open to hearing these opinions because it can help you improve. Take the time to stop over marketing and start listening and watch how you business grows!
